The homes on view were developed by William F. Cody, an influential desert modern architect working in Palm Springs during the peak of the Modern Architecture Movement, Cody's style was unique. His residential projects integrated simplicity of form, natural light, and extensive use of glass displaying a seamless connection between interior and exterior. In addition to Cody Court, the neighborhood has a plethora of midcentury and modernist architecture.
Built along the fairway at exclusive Tamarisk Country Club in Rancho Mirage each house is distinctly Cody, no two are alike. Ticket holders will have access to the interiors of five homes as well as the grounds of this special enclave.
Tamarisk Country Club was developed by four of the five Marx Brothers notable in street signs like “Gummo” and “Harpo.” It was the second 18-hole golf course developed in the desert. Danny Kaye, George Burns and Jack Benny were active members. Harpo’s widow, Susan Fleming Marx, was an original owner at Cody Court and lived in the neighborhood until her death.
A portion of the proceeds from this tour will support architectural preservation and improvements to the property.
