Full Details

Using projects conceived over 30 years of practice, James Burnett, FASLA, founder of OJB Landscape Architecture presents the changing imperatives of modern gardens as places for engagement, reflection and climate action. Designer of the acclaimed desert gardens at Sunnylands Center and Gardens, Burnett will discuss how the gardens balance an exceptional palette of bold plantings with strict water and environmental profiles. The surprising richness and variety of the desert environment is shown to painterly effect and a counterpoint to the original modern estate and grounds established by Walter and Leonore Annenberg in Rancho, Mirage. Join Burnett as he shares lessons learned from Sunnylands and several compelling public gardens featured in a new monograph, Envisioning Landscapes, published by The Monacelli Press/Phaidon. A book signing will follow the interactive presentation.
